The Artificial Monkeys are the UK’s premier tribute to the iconic AM-era Arctic Monkeys, faithfully recreating the energy, attitude, and sound from 2006 to the legendary AM album. No gimmicks. No fillers. Just four musicians fully locked in, channeling the era fans fell in love with.
Formed in 2017 by James (our very own Alex Turner) and Glenn Rice (Matt Helders behind the kit), the mission was clear from day one: capture the raw, electric spirit of the Arctic Monkeys' early years — when four lads made crowds bounce off the walls with every riff.
The setlist began to take shape, but the lineup didn’t feel right — until Glenn brought in old bandmate Rob Sherwood to take on lead guitar duties, nailing Jamie Cook’s edge and precision. Alongside him came Ross Williams, a multi-instrumentalist who locked in the Nick O'Malley groove on bass and keys. One rehearsal, and it clicked.
While many tribute acts span the full Arctic Monkeys discography, we stay true to the original four-piece era — from Whatever People Say I Am… to AM. Not because we don’t respect the later albums (we do), but because playing them properly demands seven players, and we’re not here to half-deliver. We’re here to give fans the full-throttle, four-piece Arctic Monkeys experience.
We’ve played everything from major UK festivals to packed-out club gigs — and we treat every show like it’s a headline night at the Sheffield Leadmill. If you loved the Arctic Monkeys at their loudest, fastest, and rawest… you’re in the right place.
